Merlion Park – A symbol of tourism and a national icon of Singapore. The Merlion statue in Merlion Park was sculpted by artist Lim Nang Seng and was inaugurated on September 15, 1972. The Merlion is an impressive design with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. The lion’s head symbolizes the legend of this island nation, while the fish body represents the simplicity of Temasek, the fishing village that once existed in Singapore.
